Distinctive & Special, Just like Dylan
Silver Lab coffee is a little out of the ordinary in the best way. Hailing from a small independent farm in the luscious green hills of Rwanda, it's crafted using 'anaerobic fermentation' - an experimental technique which gently shapes how the flavours develop in the coffee beans.
Grown and handpicked in small and carefully selected batches, this thoughtful approach leads to really expressive flavours - with lovely layers of sweetness and fruitiness.
In the cup, you can enjoy vibrant notes of dark jammy fruits and molasses. It's a coffee that's brimming with juicy flavours and a rich lingering body. The pawfect balance of sweet and tangy, with deep fruity notes on the nose and a fragrance of plum and blackcurrant.
We simply love its sweetness. It's a distinctive and memorable sip - just like our original Coffi Lab Dylan.
Coffi Empowering Community
Another special part of Silver Lab's story is that it's grown entirely by women, as part of a wonderful project supporting and empowering them. "Making women's coffee work count" - this is what inspired Rugori (Women's Crown) Gasharu Coffee in Nyamshake. And it really matters.
Women do most of the work in coffee farming, yet only receive a little of the recognition and reward. This project is changing that - fairly recognising their contribution, and making an incredible difference in their families and community. With more money in the hands of women, communities have even eradicated malnutrition and illiteracy.
Urugori ("women's crown") is a crown that's given to women in Rwanda after the birth of their first child. It's a symbol of motherhood, respect and recognition of their contribution to society. Named after this symbol, this coffee project continues recognising their contribution, making sure they're seen and supported.
Roasted in Cardiff, in Tribute to Dylan
Once these rare and experimental beans are beautifully ripe, they reach our little Cardiff roastery. We roast them lightly and delicately before gently resting them for two weeks to accentuate their wonderful flavours. We then carefully sip test to make sure Silver Lab is just right.
The special edition roast truly is our Best in Show - a limited release, just like the special Labrador Dylan was. He watches over our little Giesen as the beans are carefully crafted in his honour.
And in the name of this coffee, there's another treasured memory. As Dylan's fur gently silvered with age, he became our beautiful Silver Lab.
Dylan brought warmth, joy and positivity with his loyal and gentle nature. Coffi Lab exists because of him and for him. And he's our guiding light to bring a little happiness and do a little good.
One of life's simple pleasures - we remember Dylan with every sip of Silver Lab, and hope this special coffee brings a little joy to your cup too.
